Woodrow Wilson's 14 Points

On January 8, 1918, President Woodrow Wilson gave a speech known as the Fourteen Points. In thus he addressed points that he felt would end the war and provide lasting peace throughout the world. A few examples are

Point I. - No secret treaties - Diplomacy shall always take place in the publics eye.

Point II. - Open seas navigation outside of territories.

Point III. - Fair trade for every country and take down all economic barriers that create problems within countries and between countries.

Point XIV. - A "League of Nations" should be formed in order to keep and maintain world peace.

The fourteen points were proposed to do good in the world and designed to make attempts to end the wars. But Wilson's fourteen points created some commotion amongst the allied nations. The League of Nations was a good idea but was abandoned with WWII and out of it formed the UN or present day United Nations.

The most important of the fourteen points would definitely have to be the League of Nations (Point 14). This allowed for a great communication between countries and allowed for better strives at preventing wars between countries. This also set the ground for the modern day UN which is our current organization to try and keep world peace. This is definitely the best option for keeping world peace.

Political Cartoon for WWI

This Political Cartoon is a depiction of what the Germans were doing during WWI. The Germans used submarines during the war and this was their main advantage. They were better known as U-Boats. During the war the Germans passed a policy known as the Unrestricted Submarine Warfare. This policy stated that the Germans would sink any ship that was in range of their U-Boats that did not belong to them. It did not matter if the ship was full of innocent people. On May 7, 1915 this policy was really noticed when a German U-Boat sank the Lusitania and killed 1198 people. there were some Americans on board and this is what made us take more notice to the war. This cartoon shows how people are looking for answers as to how they can get ride of this U-Boat problem and how the war is now knocking on out front door and just asking us to get involved.

American Women in WWI

During World War I most of the men were off fighting in the war. Well there was one problem with this. Who was home taking care of the country, and creating new supplies for the army. Women is your answer. During WWI women stepped up and took control of a lot of things that wouldn't be able to get done due to all the men being away at war. The women did an amazing job as they took the initiative and stepped right in to take the open positions left by the men. Soon you were able to find women running factories as well as working in them. You could find them in all types of business's and even building military supplies such as tanks and munitions. Women also ran hospitals, paved streets and plowed the fields. So basically women did everything. This really changed the view of women and showed that they are capable to be in those types of positions in the working field.

American Genocide

The Armenian Genocide first started April 24, 1915 Turkish government officials imprisoned around 250 Armenian people in the city of Constantinople. Deportation, expropriation, starvation, torture abduction, and massacre of the entire Armenian population was a result of this. Deportation in a sense was a forced death march. They would march the Armenian people into the hot deserts of Syria in an attempt to kill them off by dehydration or starvation. Other Armenians were just blatantly murdered in the Ottoman Empire. They took nothing into account with their treatment. Not age or sex. In essence this was a ethnic cleansing of the Armenian people. Much like the Nazi's in WWII the Ottoman Empire leaders lead their people to believe that the Armenian people were inferior and a danger to their country. They portrayed this through propaganda etc. The goal was to create a country that was made completely of Turkic people.

Whenever anything happens like this it completely disgusts me. How ignorant, greedy, and black can someone's heart be that they are willing to massacre millions all because of something so insignificant such as their race is different than that of their own. And then on top of their actions they deny that it ever happened. How could you ever deny such a significant event?
